3d Program flow modeling in Second Life via LSL
In a program's lifecycle, UML plays a very important role throughout the entire span of the program's life. It is most heavily used in the beginning of the program's starting stages, if it is used at all.
UML has become a widely accepted tool for use in all types of programming. I have used it in many of my projects to help gain a grasp of the program flow.
A while back, I ventured into Second life and took a look around. I was not overly impressed with the system at the time, due to it's "Primitive" 3D nature.
As time has gone by, and SL Buzz has increased, I have started to realize a possible way for SL to work for me. Not as a play thing, but as a real world tool.
3D UML. Why 3d UML instead of the traditional UML? Well simply this. traditional UML does not offer a way for depth to be realized. When designing a Use Case study for a particular problem, you are limited to to 2 dimensions for the layout.
What happens if you place a simular use case in 3D representation is you can grasp better in some cases the depth of the processes going on. This is still a thought and idea in progress.
I have been toying with some rudimentary ideas and concepts for this and will ramble more when I have more to share.
